BEWARE OF LIVE NATION CLAIMING TO ASSIST VICTIMS

LIVE NATION CLAIMS THEY’RE HELPING…ARE THEY?

The Astroworld Festival’s team claims to have been working with authorities over the weekend, according to a statement published on Twitter by Live Nation, the entertainment corporation responsible for Astroworld Festival.

“Throughout the weekend, we’ve been working to provide local authorities with all they require from us in order for them to complete their investigation and get everyone the answers they’re seeking,” the Live Nation tweet added.

LIVE NATION HAS NOT STATED HOW THEY ARE HELPING

According to the statement, personnel has met with local authorities and supplied them with CCTV footage, and that all load-out work on the site has been halted while investigators “walk and document the grounds.” According to CNN, all ticket purchases will be reimbursed, however no instructions have been announced for the refund process.

In a statement, Live Nation has acknowledged that the tragedy has had “a significant emotional and financial toll” on everyone involved. They also said they’re working on methods to support ticket-holders, the families of victims, and staff, yet once again have not released any specifics.

11/12/2021 UPDATE: RESTRICTIVE LIVE NATION REFUNDS

KHOU11 has informed Astroworld attendants to be wary of refunds. One Tweet reads,“READ THE FINE PRINT! Be sure accepting Travis Scott Astroworld “refund” doesn’t waive your right to sue or that he is using the “refund” pass as compensation for your pain and suffering!”

According to Live Nation’s Fan Support website in the Terms of Use section on their Policy & Security page, ticket purchasers,“agree that any dispute or claim … Will be resolved by binding, individual arbitration, rather than in court. By agreeing to individual arbitration, you … waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.”

KHOU Legal Analyst Carmen Roe explains the events at Astroworld may not fall within the constraints of the waiver. Roe goes on to state, “Negligence and gross negligence are not part of that. And that is exactly what a lot of these lawsuits are setting out. So, anyone who was the subject of this company’s negligence or gross negligence, will still be able to sue no matter what those terms and conditions say.”

ASTROWORLD TICKETHOLDERS BEWARE

Roe warns ticket purchasers to look out for, “‘Waiver,’ ‘Consent’ ‘Agreement’ of any kind.”

Roe supports her point, saying, “Refunds should not come with a signature. So, in this particular case, Live Nation has suggested they’re going to refund these people, and that this is all going to be on the up and up. That shouldn’t require their signature under any circumstances.”
